He is generally referred to as Paolo, but I thought that was because he was working in Italy (like Carlo Abarth, who was actually Karl...) so he was referred to by the Italian for Paul.
Have seen him also referred to as Paul, and because Martin is not an Italian name I figured he was from elsewhere. I'll check into it and if I'm wrong I'll change it. Alternatively there'll be plenty of Puzzlers who know the true facts!
OK, I've changed his name to Paolo as I can't find any reference to him not being Italian.
I can find that he was born in 1943, but not where.
Who knows for sure? Was his father Italian? Why does he have a non-Italian surname?
