I do believe it's not...but can't be sure.

I believe it closed in the 80s.

Maybe I have a different attitude about famous makes, but I couldn't find anything matching your previous infos.
As I'm stuck and have to leave the PC now, someone else should disclose this mess...  ;D

Last clue:
This engine is used in many microcars.

I won't lock this puzzle, since the answer is really there.

Ydral it is (I have to admit I've never heard about before)!
And this was a 1970 1:5 scaled prototype made by Louis Schoon with support from Fernand Vanhoutte.

The race you've mentioned should be the famous French Bol d'Or.

All correct!
I'm sorry, but I've meet the Ydral name a lot of times only in the microcar field (Air Tourist, CM Mochet, Decolon, DS Malterre, France Jet, Galy, Inter, P.Vallee, PB, Poirier, Reyonnah, Rolux,...) that I took for granted that it was a well known firm.
Well done!

I use to forget pretty much of what I've read before, esp. things on which I'm not that much interested in...
So, it's probably my fault and not yours

I've checked some of my books, focused on French microcars and recognized that "Ydral" was quite frequently mentioned.

I have a 1957 motorcycle from the very unknown French brand 'Mercier' which has a 125 cc Ydral engine

Series production was planned and a mold was made for the body. It was to have a DAF CVT and a Renault Gordini engine.
