Yes, that's what I was looking for!
Well done - 1 post and 1 point.
Hubert will have to be a bit quicker to build on those points!

Actually no, this one is not the Sotheby Special. That was never in this colour scheme.
A second sister car based a DBSV8 automatic chassis, was also built as the result of a request of a private customer in 1973. She had seen the SS at a show and asked if she could order one - they quoted a very high price to frighten her off, but she said "OK". The car was reputed to have cost £28,750 when the standard car was only £8749. This one is that car.
I remember seeing is at a 21st birthday celebration that Ogle Design held and it had wonderfully blistered paintwork on the bonnet, and it was said that Ogle had a lot of explaining to do to the owner who seemed to feel that blistered paint was inappropriate for a car of that price.

Fascinating Allan; I didn't know there were 2, I just assumed it had changed colour once or twice in its life..
Since the car was designed as a Sotheby Special, however, I'll just call it a copy!

Since it was made by the original constructor at about the same time it is one of the few cases where "replica" could be the correct term!

Yes - I did in fact try to put 'replica' in but there were insufficient characters available in the heading so I had to settle for 'copy'!  I tried to see another word I could leave out or shorten without altering the meaning but couldn't see one so in the end wrote copy instead; there wasn't even 1 character left available!!

It was probably built with Lucas electronics so they excepted some to be out at any given time.

Actually they were always known in the USA as "The Prince of Darkness"!

Actually the rear light array had no electronics. The idea, or part thereof, was that the harder you braked the more brake lamps lit and that was controlled by a pendulum and wiper switch.
Pity something like that didn't catch on as it would be often be useful to know if the car ahead's brake lamps come on because he happened to touch the pedal or because he was doing a crash stop.

Don't many modern cars actually have that? At least BMW have had it on some of their models.

Interesting concept but unlike bwm, they decided to go with a not so subtle design resolution :P
