Yes it is!
I thought about painting over the truck but thought no-one would ever recognise it!
Can you tell me what Mazda it is?

Yes it is - well done.
But would you just like to say why they made it before I award that point and move it to Solved?

To test the new multi-rotor engines:
"In December 1964, another dual-rotor test engine, the Type 3820 (2 x 491cc) was designed. (...)
Mazda invested heavily in imported and exclusive machine tools, and proceeded with building test versions of other multi-rotor rotary engines, including three and four-rotor versions.
These test engines were installed in the Mazda R16A prototype mid-engine sports car, and extensive testing was conducted on the high-speed test track at the Miyoshi Proving Ground. The test track had been completed in June 1965 and was the most advanced in Asia at that time"

That's it!
It was apparently built to test a four-rotor Wankel engine design.

I think I've given you a point PJ but I can't remember; please let me know if not and I'll put it right!
