Welp, it appears to be based on a VW Bug ... but other than that ... NO clue ... :(.

Corvair engined? Seems I remember if the "vair" engine was swapped the into a bug the rear deck lid would not close completely.

I think these were sold as a conversion kit by Crown Manufacturing Co. in California back in the 1960's. I wasn't aware that they sold complete cars, but in the brief time since I found this great site, I've discovered there are a LOT of things automotive that I wasn't aware of!
