I thought you would recognise it Allan.
This particular car, chassis no. 43049, was reconstructed by Grant Wilson of Chichester, West Sussex for his daughter Vanessa. It looks like a Maserati 4CM that has been left in the wash too long!
It competed at many UK events - Brighton Speed Trials, Colerne, Prescott, Shelsley Walsh, Brooklands, Silverstone and Wiscombe Park in the 1990s before being acquired by Rodney Smith of Portola Valley CA in 2000.
He was well known for his exploits in Vintage racing circles in California frequently racing his ERA at various events.
(Sadly he died as a result of a cycling accident in 2007)
The next owner was Felix Brunot of San Rafael CA who used to race a Lotus Eleven (for 34 years!).
He competed at the Monterey Historic and Wine Country Classic every year until 2007.
Owing to various health problems I haven't managed to drive the car in anger yet but I hope my daughter will drive it when she is old enough (she is 15 at the moment).
Below are a few more views of the car when it was competing in the USA (it really is small!)
