Vee-Dub (beetle) based?
Like a VW based Puma from Brazil by DKW ?

I was thinking that too, cannot find a good match though.

It does not look like a Fiat Abarth of any kind either.

That cut line under the rear window shows similar DNA to the Matra.

I still want to look into the possible South American connection before looking to France or Italy.

There is no Swiss or German influence in there, right?

I was Googling Swiss coach builders, and found this.

Sounds complex, I did not know the intent of there being a desired book based research process.

I've always tried to provide a link to any articles or photos as a measure to give proper credit. It also avoids the eventual request or PM: Hey where did you find that!

It is easy to trace a "hot-link", so can I still hot-link?

Sorry but no. Hot or cold, it's all the same to us.
There are other ways to prove your identification.

Based on a Brazilian Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia TC?

jotage21

It was made before the TC.

woodinsight

The car shares a vague resemblance to the Pininfarina Fiat-Abarth 500 Coupe that was displayed at the 1957 Turin Show.
However I believe it has nothing to do with either Fiat or Pininfarina as the wheelbase is too short.
It might have inspired the design of this car though.

I don't think we have clearly established the base of this car.
I now presume it is a VW with a one-off body?

Nice scan!  :o Glad that this one is finally solved.

Have we had the red coupe on the top right here yet? I think I have it queued up as a puzzle somewhere
