This is a car I have known about for at least 15 years but had never actually seen a photo of, until today.  I've posted it straight to the Experts section as I think it's a tricky one, but Rookies are of course welcome to answer as well.

So for a point, can you tell me all you can about this car.

French and based on a Renault 5?

POLYCARTER Renault 4 based by G. de Tayrac

Djetset

French yes, but not based on an R5, nor is it a Polycarter.

I'm very intrigued to see if the Pros may know what this one is, as it has taken me many years of searching to find a photo of this unusual beast.  So..?

Is that a Baldi Renault 4 ?

It is french and is called Nadal after it's constructor G. Nadal. The car is from about 1970. Nadal later modified the car and called the new model Nagil.

Wow SeaLion, I am hugely impressed as I really thought this one might end up in the Black Hole.  Well done!

It is indeed the unusual Renault R4-based Nagil, made by Guy Nadal in Frontenac, Southern France in the late 1970s/early 1980s.  A photo of this car has eluded me for years, and I have never seen it mentioned in any book, magazine or website article (apart from an entry in the Georgano encyclopedia, which I wrote!), so I am very curious to find out if you know more about this car?  Thanks, and well done again.  Here's a photo of the front of the Nagil.

Sorry, no. I just stumbled on some pictures of the car about two weeks ago, when I searched for info about another R4-based puzzle car. It was just luck ... ;D

Djetset

Oh well, thanks for the update anyway SeaLion.  Here's another photo for good measure.
