Solved by Carnut: A Short and Simple Puzzle..
« on: March 10, 2010, 12:58:25 PM »
This time there are no points to score for knowing the cars.
That would be much too easy and the re-post screamers would pull me to pieces.
You only get one point when you can tell me the common theme
of the following eight cars and a second when you list them one by one!
No points for naming cars only. No points for the wrong theme!
All or nothing!

I am no expert. Were they all penned by the same designer, perhaps?    ???

Go on!  :)
It's already one point for you! One second is waiting if you are the first one who get that "list" together.  ;)

So, it's still an open race!

Of course.
The 2nd one was an International Scout (Field Car according to Matchbox!)
Matchbox called their version of the Zanda a "Tanzara"!

Are you sure that's a IH Scout? (the Matchbox, not the red car in the advertisement) Doors are straight cut, grille opening is not the IH-typical rectangle.

My source about Matchbox die casts reports it!
If you look closely to most of the toy cars you'll see that Lesney's designers weren't slaves to authenticity. (Tanzara – Zanda)

No worries - some details are close to correct, others are way off. The Cortina taillights are a nice enhancement.   :D

Yes, as Allemano says they were not out to be authentic models but toys, so models of that era are not especially accurate.
The early Matchbox cars etc from the 1950s were much more accurate.

But the Matchbox Field Car is 100 pct definintely based on the International Scout!

OK - since you press the issue, how do you support that?

I found it on a website, but it took an awful lot of finding and I didn't make a note of its address because I didn't need to.
If I find it again I'll let you know!
