This is the vehicle called "Tonic", which on 1 July 2008 set a new world record for crossing the English Channel from Dover to Calais in an amphibious car.
It was piloted by Professor Hans Georg Näder, who also commissioned its development and building, and made the journey in 74 minutes 30 seconds, beating the previous record of 100 minutes 6 seconds held by Sir Richard Branson.
