Australian?

Yes!

Is it a styling model for a Ford Telstar, a project to produce the Mazda 626 in Australia?

Thanks
I've spent far too long dredging everything for this but can find no mention at all of such a Ford/Mazda project.
The only vaguely similar thing I can find is a design by Homologated Options for a Ford Telstar (1984) but I can't see any evidence that it got beyond the drawings stage.
I'll be away now for more than 24 hours so the lock will have passed...
Was it to be rotary-engined or was it an MX-6 derivative?
