I have been very close to the answer earlier in this thread. It is the new Iveco Massif, which is actually a rebadged spanish Santana PS-10 with another front. And Santana is actually the former Hisparo that is renamed. So my earlier Aro guess was very close.

It ain't. Santana is a licensed Land Rover and has nothing to do with ARO.

Santana was not based onAro, and the Iveco is neither, it is an evolution of the Land Rover.

Santana was not based onAro, and the Iveco is neither,

No one in this thread said they were.  Mountain, meet molehill.

Both Aro and Iveco are licensed into Spanish builders but actually designed and had their roots in other countries.   SeaLion said his guess of Aro was close.   It was close.  It wasn't related to this vehicle though and no one said it was.

End of story.

The current title doesn't say.  What name did the puzzle vehicle carry?

It's an Iveco Massif. I amended the title and reinstalled the pictures.

"And Santana is actually the former Hisparo that is renamed."
No, Sir, Santana assembled Land Rovers, so the inspiration for Santana is the Defender. If you want further proof, remember that in Brasil when they anticipated a mega-contract for light vehicles with the Brazilian Army, the romanians associated themselves with a Miami investor (because that's the kind of friends they have), while Santana PS-10 was brought by a Brazilian company who bankrupted recently. And in fact Aro itself was modelled mechanically after Defender and stylistically after an obscure Wagoneer prototype. This was the official policy, in Ceaushescu's words, "for the internal market we can even copy our mother" and, like any bad thing it escalated, thus "for the internal market" became ""for the socialist markets", then "for the trade with close friends", then"for trade". If you find any romanian original technology tell me, so I could kiss her.
