A very early cab over engine design.

Who knows what it is?

an eytra point for anyone who can tell me where the only today existing car of this type stands.

grobmotorix

Frontpaged!
Let´s see if this will help identify this uniquely styled horseless carriage?

Arunas

Does it have two front/rear ends? :D

grobmotorix

Nice idea, indeed!

Some fire fighters thought it would be a good idea to create a car that enables you to flee a fierce fire without having to turn on narrow forest tracks etc.

So this red one is really bi-directional, but not my green one...

grobmotorix

Maybe the pros know just something about this vehicle?

Paul Jaray

Reminds me of a NEC, but can't find the right model...

grobmotorix

You may be very near to the solution, but to be honest I do not know what NEC would stand for exactly...

I think I will lock that for you for 24h.

I've few pics of car made by N.E.C., New Engine Company Ltd., Acton London.
These engines were designed by G.F. Mort. In his first workshop in Reading (1904) he worked with his brother and 2 other staff members.
He later moved to Acton, where he kept on making aero-engines till 1913.
His first car (a 24hp four) was marketed on 1905, with horizontal engine under the floor and a flat front with no bonnet.
There were a 30hp and a 40hp four (form 1907 to 1914) and two twins, a 15hp and a 20hp, made untill 1911.

Perfect. This is the point for the car.

It is a New Engine by NEC, built in the second half of the first decade.

Now you may be able to locate this very car for an additional point...

Still locked for the master of autopuzzles´universe!

Paul Jaray

Thank you, but you can unlock it, since I've limited time to do a research...and if it's in a museum we all know who might know the answer  ;)

grobmotorix

You´re right, but let´s see..

Open for all again.

Where can we find this very vehicle?

I believe it´s in India - Gondal Collection and reported as 1910.

grobmotorix

This is it - one more point for you.

They just call it 1910 "New Engine", other sources say it is a 1907 vehicle.

"GONDAL 1" is its real licence plate!

I have found a photo of a slightly different 1912 40HP NEC Landaulette:
