POKORA.
Josef POKORA and comp., factory maschinery, Kostelec nad Labem, Czechoslovakia.
The company produced during WW I: grenades and had a small foundrys.
In the thirties years produced about 3 sports cars. One of them was designed to race to teh top, that in 1938 Eva Pokorova imported to England. Some did not participale in the race.
Motors Sport magazine published in september 1938 photo ( with Czech number plates ) in september 1945, registered in the U.K. ( EMX 459 ). In 1980 it was discovered in the U.S. completely renovated. Two other cars were destroyer. One in the bombing, the second plane crash on the way to England.
Engine: 8 cylinder Continental - 3694 ccm ( 70 x 120 mm ) Another source says - 3 499 ccm or 4 500 ccm. Year of productio is likely 1937. POKORA worked together in French automaker SCAP of Billancourt.
Excuse my Englisch.

My book gives as date 1927.

It should not be 1945 as it is written now, as per milos62's comments. In 1937 Pokora died, so it is unlikely it is from that age. "A race to the top" would probably be a hillclimb? My translation of the book gives the same wording.

Yes, " A race to the top" = hillclimb. It is also the year of the 1927th.

I believe my book states 1927, the year Milos is stating as well. It is at the very very least prewar.
