In the early 1950s a German manufacturer Krupp introduced a large general purpose truck named the Mustang.  They were issued German copyrights to the name Mustang and continued to build this truck for many years.  This truck was built in several configurations including a dump truck and a fire engine.  When Ford wanted to introduce Mustang in the German market, they opted not to buy the naming rights from Krupp, and adopted the project name T5 from the cars development period.
