Jim Cash´s 1947 Heidelberg mystery called "Hot Rod"
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:22:00 PM »
First of all I will show you all the facts I know:

I want to find out any details about this strange (threewheeled?) contraption, in which two young american models and an innocent german dachshund were forced by LIFE magazine´s photographer Walter Sanders in 1947 in Heidelberg.

One long sentence - one hope.

Maybe someone has another photography of this mystherious vehicle?
It looks like it has been made from a motorcycle sidecar, but it obviously can steer itself and there´s no motorcycle to be seen...

If not this will climb the ladder and vanish in the black hole.

Any experts and pro´s please send me a PM if you know anything, because I want to give our rookies the chance to contribute to this, too.

Very odd - I have a copy of that magazine, but no picture of that car is in that article (in my copy).

On Page 19, the text says Jim Cash (the boy) hopes to take Maybelle Davis (the girl) for a ride back home, in his home-made car, which he calls a "hot rod".

But no picture of the car.

Here's a longer shot of the vehicle. I've no idea what it is.

One step to find out what it was.

 :D

Sorry, just my misleading choice of filename. Walter Sanders is the photographer who took all these pictures (in 1947).

So, it's absolutely not Mr Cash's "hot rod"?

Well, I´ve decided to award two points.
One for you for the name.
And one for Tom_I for the whole car pic.

Maybe we will get more information later?
