Now Artist 11 should be the Fireballs with Jimmy Gilmer, to be matched with Car Song 5 "Red Cadillac and a black mustache" -yes, they did it too.

I have trouble finding the same picture, but I decided I could have the reasonable doubt on my side. Gilmer should be the man in the middle in the puzzle photo, to the right in the Fireballs photo.

Well, usually, when you don't find the picture, there's a good reason to it: you've got the wrong artist.

Mr. Gilmer is not a member of this band (#11). This group changed their lineup and their collective name more than once. For a while they shared their name with a car, and partially, with another, more well-know vocal group. Another of the group's other names was also (partially) shared with a different, more well-known band, but not with a car. Finally, when their ranks were reduced by half, another name change ensued, which did echo that of an automotive feature that was popular at the time.

I know this sounds like a pyramid scheme of name changes, but there are clues a-plenty embedded in this reply.

EDIT: I found a site about garage bands, and was about to happily start rummaging through it... It says 469 bands for the USA only! No dice. Maybe they've got less garages in other countries.

Artists 4 is a passle of young musicians, while Artist 10 appears alone.

Song 6 is about a car already identified, and Song 7's subject is quite easily discerned, I should think.

If by Garage Band, you mean young, non-profesionals who likly practiced in a garage or basement, then yes.

Artist 10: When you search whoever mentioned NASCAR in a song (with Martinsville I got 0 hits), you get a long long list of guys with cowboy hats and a few loonies.

Among them, a Cledus T. Judd doesn't seem to mind appearing in a coon hat. What do you say?

I'd be surprised if the garage band is on an easily-found list. They are found on a list which includes a higher degree of specificity.

The fella with the cap is no Cledus.
