Thanks! It's a Wartburg Cabrio 'Eigenbau' which means nothing more than 'self built'. (Possibly he called it 'Umbau 353', that's not clear!)
It was made by a Swiss guy named Marcellus Pillen on a 1969 Wartburg 353 with many components from other makes
