I think that it started life as an MGB GT judging by the height of the windshield - but I'm not sure what happened after that.

Jim now lives in Letchworth and across the road from where I've lived for the past 14 months.
That photo was taken in the Friern Barnet Road by the man who was writing the car up for one of the magazines.
To the list of cars that provided raw materials we can add the Volkswagen Webasto sliding roof. When the children got a bit bigger and heavier the (widened) ex-Daimler Salisbury back axle started to hit the underside of their seat, so a Rover 2000 de Dion axle was fitted instead.
Other specials he made were Lea-Francis powered which was why he sought me out soon after he moved to Letchworth some five years ago. The second of those had a Sunbeam-Talbot chassis and Swallow Doretti body panels and was last heard of when someone bought it expecting to get a cheap Doretti body, only to find that all Jim had had were the exterior panels which he had mounted on a frame of his own design. . .

When I had a Daimler SP250 I happened to meet man and car at a Vintage Silverstone in about 1965. I took this photo which I have just found whilst looking for something totally different!
Jim is getting on a bit, so only builds model cars now - but he's still interested in mechanical matters and likes to know how things work.

Edited to add: It must have been 1967 or later as the car had an "E" suffix on its registration number (E ran from Jan to July1967). Woodinsight's answer got the car's date right!

I wondered what happened to my Dad's greenhouse.
Jim obviously nicked it for this creation...!
