There was a full story on this car in Alternative Cars magazine in 1983. I'll have to dig it out!

I had this one stored for later posting. I've attached the image (it's the same, though...)

If you can lay your hands on yours, please do so! I'm still sorting through a collapsed shelving disaster!

My hands will be on my copy of the magazine on Tuesday, probably, after I get home and after a couple of days at work.

I'll get back to it.

I discovered that I hadn't got my picture from the AC issue, which was January, 1984, but from a book.

The book has the following info:

Quote
Cartel

A firm better known for its body-styling kits, Cartel briefly essayed car manufacture with the TIGER of 1983. The name was an acronym for Turbo Intercooled Ground Effect Roadster and was coined by the car's instigator, Chris Humberstone.

The TIGER's dramatic shape was inspired by racing car principles - it was claimed that Ken Tyrrell assisted with its ground effect technology - while the forward-hingeing canopy was a definite Humberstone quirk.

With a Renault 2664cc V6 mounted amidships, claimed performance was 140mph and 0-60mph in under six seconds, or even better if the optional twin turbos were ordered.

The intention was to make the rolling chassis in Britain and have the remainder completed in the USA - the TIGER's principal market - at a rate of 200 a year. Prices were to be low (from £8,000), but Cartel decided that its interests were best served by sticking to its flourishing bodykit business and the TIGER roared no more.

The four-page article from Alternative Cars:
