Solved -PJ206- Chrysler International Coronado 1962
« on: September 09, 2009, 10:05:34 AM »
This one is not so hard, but it goes directly to the Pro's.
I would like to know the story behind this car, that goes together with its make and model.

1962 Plymouth Coronado, extended wheelbase eight passenger sedan made in Belgium or Netherlands. The name Plymouth doesn't appear on the car, presented as built by Chrysler.
Coronado was used by Chrysler on other models: a DeSoto Fireflite Coronado in 1954 and 1955, and announced a new line of cars after 1958:

Plymouth announced a line of extended wheelbase cars in 1958; the cars were to be built in Chrysler subsidiary "Societe Anonyme Chrysler" Antwerp, Belgium plant. Built on a 142" wheelbase (two feet over normal) the cars were built as Plymouth, Dodge Kingsway and DeSoto Diplomat models, although all were based on the Plymouth body shell.

Then the name was used in South America, applied to different Mopar cars. If you want the rest of the story (supposing I have the one you ask), I'd better give the link...

This has been edited after my first and short answer.

That was quick.
This is, as you wrote, a Coronado, built in 1962 from a Plymouth and made in Rotterdam by Chrysler International.

Longer as usual.

For one point, please respond and identify this car and say where it was built.

Is this a 1962 Coronado 8-passenger sedan? I am unsure of what  Chrysler division would claim this car built in the Netherlands, but it appears closest to the US Plymouth.
