Is that a pressurized container just aft of the driver's seat - say, for compressed natural gas?

This one is quite obscure, but once you find out what does it run with, it will be a piece of cake.

Hmm..  Lots of lagged piping too.  Could it be hydrogen?

Peter Pellandine used to much about with steam power - could this be one of his?

His Pelland coupe went on to become a conventional powered kit car.

Not a Pellandine car... this one is almost complete, it's not just a chassis!

The narrow front end makes me think of a hot rod. Does it have something to do with salt flats?

Not the name I have.
Here's another view of the car...because it's a car and not just a chassis...

Is that a converted Mercury motorboat engine, reconfigured to run on steam? Maybe a Barrett Mercury 6 steam conversion?

It is a Mercury motorboat engine, and Barret's name appears quite often in my source.
The car is named after its creator, that is not Barret.
Locked for you till your next reply. (it won't take long now...)

Is it maybe a Vagg VW steam car?
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Not Vagg, but the names are very few, I'm surprised this one is still here....

I think it's the Hinote Steam car from about 1973-75
