Motorbikes are not my subject, but I'd say Douglas, probably pre Great War

The problem is they all look alike from the mid 1910s through the mid 1920s!

Well, I still say pre-Great War Douglas, as it's belt drive - 1920s versions were chain.
Perhaps either a 3½ hp or 4 hp of about 1912

Nice work!

It's a Douglas Motocycle Company _____________. A similar 1922 Douglas was owned by His Royal Highness, Prince Albert

If it's a name you want, I'm stuck, but I think Graywolf's TS guess may be right.

Looks much like this one which is for sale in California and is catalogued as 1922 Douglas 2¾hp Model W which is what Graywolf said in the first place! (well 2 years' age difference, but what does that matter?)

D'you mean the one at the head of this thread, which looks o.k. to me, or the one you cropped it from which gave details?

I mean the one I had saved that gave the maker's name and type designation. Somebody (I share my home with two other humans, a dog, two cats and a goldfish) has deleted mass quantities of photos from my PC. Since there are now many pictures of kittens and other 'cute' things occupying the same folder, I think I can rule out the dog, and probably, the goldfish.

Did you never think it was the dog to get rid of the cat?
