Solved JJ #49 - Pritchard steam car
« on: June 11, 2009, 01:50:13 AM »
Another puzzle from me.

No prizes for guessing what the car started life as, but what's so special about this Ford Falcon?

I've heard something about only 4-door Falcons were sold in Australia because they wanted the people to have more kids or something, so that the population would increase. Is that it?

No, it's nothing to do with the bodywork.

It might be a bit early, but I'm moving this one now, as it's so obscure I think it needs some expert attention.

The Pritchard steam car prototype.  I don't believe they ever sold any, but I saw their display at the Melbourne Motor Show about 1975 and had a flyer from that exhibit, though I can't seem to find it now.

Yes, it's the Pritchard steam car, although it started life as a 1963 Ford Falcon sedan.
