I received a magazine today with an article about the DAWB 6.
It's indeed a fantasic project that started with sketches in 1954 and took Mr. Woods 5 years of planning and another period of 8 years to finish the car in 1967. He made it in spare times after work in his own company.
The engine is a 1500cc 6 cyl. which developes 136 BHP. One of the most powerful 1,5 l at all. Only very few parts were taken from other manufacturers, except of the window glasses, door frames and the gear-box. The engine is based on a NSU "Supermax" with capacity of 250cc (x 6!). Woods only took the forged Mahle pistons. He made the other parts on his own...
The unique body style was formed by Northern-Irish Bill Leach from Belfast as the Italian tailors (Pininfarina, Bertone) refused to support the project. Other carrozzerias were way too expensive.
Artie Bell was more or less the inspiring part of the project, he had nothing to do with all the technical and building stuff.
I'm still unsure if I like this four-eyed front design or not!
More infos on request.
