SOLVED: Djetset #194 - Serra Lancia Aurelia
« on: August 07, 2009, 02:56:27 AM »
A very precise answer please to earn a point.  I need to know the name of the coachbuilder, and what the base make and model is.

You got the Lancia bit right, but the rest is wrong I'm afraid.  Take a closer look, and you'll see that it's almost a Touring-bodied Flaminia GT, but not quite!  Sorry!! ;)

I wondered why it was so easy...!
So my second thought was that it's a 2.5 GT, which was superficially similar to the 3C 2.8 but had a 23cm shorter wheelbase and was actually slightly smaller all round and with only 2 seats, to create a more sporty car.
But - the windscreen still doesn't look quite right.  Did Touring create a one-off Appia coupe that looks just like the Flaminia but is smaller all round?

You could be on to something with the differing dimensions, so keep on digging, and good luck.

Can't find anything else out.
Can only think it's constructed on a Lancia floorpan shorter than the Flaminia, i.e. a Flavia, but don't know why.  Maybe as a proposal for a Flavia Coupe, the productions version of which was produced by Pininfarina of course?

I admire your detective work, but sadly it hasn't taken you to the right answer as yet.  I have to say that I think this one is quite tricky, but I'm sure the right answer will come along.

Correct, and very well done, as I think this was quite an obscure one.  A well deserved point.
