Solved by many: A Selection Of European Design (By Design II)
« on: November 19, 2008, 03:32:30 PM »
With permission of the famous Otto Puzzle I'd like to post a new 'design topic'. In this puzzle I've focused on European design. Nevertheless I hope also Not-Europeans will get an easy access to this challenge!

Below you see a range of ten products. Each of them is related to a famous designer.
To a great extent all of those designers were involved in at least one car project during their career.
Some of these mysteries are quite easy to solve, but some will be fairly hard nuts to crack!

I only accept complete replys! That means I like to know the name of the designer, the name of the product and at least one related car project.

Due to the fact that these mysteries are of different difficulty ratings I've written how many points are to score for each!

I started this topic at the Expert section first, but guess it'll be moved to the Pros in a few days...

But now: enjoy!

Do you think? You gave four for each in the By Design 1 topic. I'll give 3, 4 and 5 — average 4!

#09 is the Alweg 'Monorotaia' at the Esposizione Italia 61 in Torino. Designer was Tom Tjaarda, creator of the Chevrolet Corvette Rondine and Fiat 2300 Lausanne Coupé, to mention only two of my favourites of his works.

Well done! 4 points for you!  :)
But please be patient for a while. I'll tally the points when everything's finished!

Well, it isn't so hard to find out what the first one is. But its design was done by a company rather than one designer - and even if I try to find out what the man who is head of the company has done, I can't find any reference to car design. Where did I go wrong?

It's indeed related to the head/founder of the company.

Where did I go wrong?
Maybe you haven't the right sources...

Correct in both!  :)

I'm afraid they were too easy.. (I still have to practice setting up proper group puzzles. :-\)

Stunning!  :)
But....the cars are missing and be a bit more specific about the sewing machine. It has a particular 'name'! BTW: Sixten Sason is correct!

I keep it open for you for two hours!

There was a model called 20 that was produced from 1953.

EDIT: would you please name the related cars?
F.A. Porsche designed the Porsche 901, which was renamed as the 911, because Peugeot had a trademark in France for x0x-numbers.
Sixten Sason designed the Saab 92, Saab 99 and the Saab Sonett.
Mario Bellini have worked for Fiat, Lancia and Renault, his most remarked design was the dashboard for the Lancia Thema Volumex:

Well, I know the name of the designer of #1, and I've found out which company he was at one time associated with, and which year - but I can't find any references to which car he helped design. The company where he spent one year, did in that year present one of the most legendary cars of all time. Was he in any way associated with designing this?

Correct, but in the Pro section nit picking is en vogue: I need the correct model designation of the sewing mashine!

Not that I'm aware of! Tell me the name of the car you've meant. No harm will follow!  ;)
