This is the Ogo Phantom, made by Otto Gossweiler in Effretikon, Switzerland. It was shown at the 1971 Geneva Show among other "self-made" cars. The guy was 27 at that time. It was powered by a 7-liter Chevy Coevette V8-engine.
It took about 4000 hours to complete this prototype which costed about CHF 20,000  to make. Body is made of plastic and it featured gullwing doors.

Fabulous! :applause: :applause:
What source do you have? I guess it's not from the internet.

Please PM me if it's too telltale...

AutoPuzzles and especially these obscure cars gave me the necessary push to return to an activity I did frequently about 10 years ago: browsing through old issues of Autocar, Automobil Revue and a couple of other magazines. It is quite time consuming, but right now I finally have a little time for such things. So the information above is from an 1971 issue of Automobil Revue. I'll scan a picture of the car tomorrow

Great
BTW: I have it from the 1970/71 issue of Automodelle Katalog

It took a bit longer than expected. Here's a scan from an article on home-made Swiss cars, which were shown at the 1971 Geneva Show. The article was published in the Automobil Revue, the cars were exhibited at the magazine's stand

Hi guys,

sorry to bring up this old and solved thread - but I guess I can add something interesting to it.

These are some very recent pics of the car:

Welcome, Herr Gossweiler.  Are you the builder/owner of this car?  It's a great eigenbau!  Thanks for the updated photos!

Thanks guys!

No, I'm not; I'm the builder's son. The current owner owns the car since '72 or '73; he's now "trying" to sell it (not really, he in fact wants to keep it; but he amassed so many speeding tickets with this thing that his relatives an wife want him to sell it). It stands in his showroom (he's a car dealer) with a price tag of CHF 70k. The car is in almost perfect condition, has no rust at all (can't rust, the chassis had been galvanized and the body is fiberglass...), and the Corvette-V8 runs great. The 2-speed PowerGlide had been replaced by a 3- or 4-speed auto from GM some time ago; don't know what type exactly. No clue about the mileage, but I guess it must be something between 100 and 200tkm (60 to 120 thousand miles).
The pics were shot by my mom with her mobile (sorry for the bad quality); my parents went to see the car a few weeks back. As she never saw it live before, she wanted to do this once. Now she's thinking about buying the thing back...  ;D

Cheers, Oli

Grazie, Paul!

I'll try to make it to the place where it's located to shoot some more in the next months. And thinking about joining my mom to buy it back... :-)

Besten Dank Herr Gossweiler! :applause:

Truly a fantastic car though I have to admit I liked it a little more without those rear spoiler(s). But the roof mirrors are really spectacular! :)

Vielen Dank, Allemano! Ich vermute, Du bist aus den südlichen Süd-Deutschland und sprichst Allemannisch? :-)

I guess my dad wanted the car to look more 70ies-like by adding the spoilers and the lamellar stuff... Although I like the more classical form without them, I also like the different look they give the car in combination with the yellow color.
Btw, the car was white first; but after a dangerous incident with a truck on snow-covered streets, my dad re-painted the car in yellow.

Nein, das hat nichts mit 'allemannisch' zu tun. ;) Komme aus dem Pott!

Interisting! Though these old pics are black+white only I would have sworn that it's painted white. Yellow is a typical 'Opel colour' in my opinion, but it may be a bit safer in the white Alps of CH.

Thanks for your info!

hello everyone,
the ogo phantom is quite a nice and fast car - i drove it a few times.
it got new rims and new tires last week. the owner, my uncle, owns the car for over 40 years!
because he is too old and doesnt have his driving licence anymore, we would sell the ogo phantom.
just contact me, if you are interested.
the car is located in kreuzlingen, switzerland, at my parents place.

Certainly one of the nicest Eigenbaus.
Here are the builder's son's pictures resized to give a much better view of them:

Hallo Patrik,

das Auto wurde letzten Herbst verkauft; richtig? Könntest Du rausfinden, an wen? Möchte meinen Kindern mal den Eigenbau ihres Grossvaters live zeigen...

Besten Dank & Gruss,
Oli
