Lakester, by Brook Stevens

Brook Stevens is correct, but however "Lakester" is not mentioned. It's more a descriptive name that I've saved!

Maybe your sources will prove me wrong, but you have to confirm!

I believe you're correct though my source states something else...! (something less)

Combination boat/dune buggy? So how do you launch this thing? Back it into the water and float the boat off, leaving the chassis to fend for itself as you go out for a spin?

I'm guessing that this was not meant for areas with salt water or, God forbid, tides.

Wouldn't work too well in Eastport, Maine. (20 foot tides)

I still can't see how it is steered on the road!  ??? Weight shift?  ;D

porridgehead

Yeah, well see, it's kinda like this.... ummm... was that in the original specification? I'm pretty sure nobody mentioned that it had to be steered on the street. Or dunes. And about powering the car portion via the outboard... well that's right out.

Thank god someone scrapped this and instead came up with the Aquada Sports Amphibian instead....

For some reason, there are a number of web sites calling this the "Evinrude Rooney Lakester".  No explanation of who "Rooney" was.
