Slightly remeniscent of a Tornado, but different in the headlight area.

Possibly a Watford Cheetah?

I figured with those wheels it had to be French.. Looks very Panhard-esque but have trawled through all my books and can't find anything. I know I have a picture of it somewhere but where to find it...!

Ahhh... some more research at my end has uncovered that this is indeed a Marsonetto, as pnegyesi and pguillem have both suggested, so apologies for putting you off the scent. Pguillem - your guess is closest but not 100% there.

I will therefore lock the puzzle for 48 hours for either pnegyesi or pguillem to come back with another try

That's correct, well done. Although it could be 4CV engined as well - Marsonetto offered the same body with either engine

I'd say these are 4CV wheels

They do look rather similar, both consisting of an inner and an outer part, kept together by five bolts. But the inner part of the 4CV wheels is smaller, covering even smaller brake drums, about the same size as the hubcaps. On the Panhard Dyna wheels the outer part is fixed directly to the much bigger brake drums (well visible on the left car, above), only covered usually by the hubcaps.

The puzzle car with the Renault 4CV-style wheels is the model LUXE.

The Rallye was the car with the flash on the sides and the Panhard-style wheels.
