This is the Ghia-Aigle bodied VW Beetle  shown in the Wolfsburg Autostadt exhibition. Most likely this is a one-off.

GoogleTranslate made a real meal of it; I tried to correct the worst errors, but my german is a bit rusty...

Ghia Aigle 1957

The Carrozzeria Ghia Aigle in Lugano pursued similar goals as Beutler with its rapid 2+2-seater Coupé on Volkswagen basis, which was worth the Auto Motor und Sport, the German trade paper, title page, at its debut in the summer of 1957. An aluminum construction on steel frame, the instrument panel is padded and the engine possesses a MAG compressor, whichgives  the maximum speed of the car over 150 km/h. With prognosticated approximately 15,000 Swiss Franconias was probably the toy drawn by Pietro Frua lower-priced than the competition from Thun, but nevertheless similarly unsuccessful at the sales front.

If Beutler could set probably approximately six off its Volkswagen Extravaganzen, then this succeeded to Swiss Ghia licensee Ghia Aigle in at least one case. The proof for it stands since 2000 unrestored in the Fundus of the donation automuseum Volkswagen - and now in auto+museum-resounds for the first time as fascinating barn find under the gloss lights of the special exhibition over luxury versions on beetle basis. It is to not least also illustrate - compared with the total-restored Beutler and Rometsch models -, which is driven expenditure must, in order automobiles Pretiosen of the past in their original splendour again up-arises to leave.
