Despite its american styling I think that one was built in Europe.

Ah yes, I have the same pic. It looks almost the same as the one posted, except for details and squarer rear wheel arches. Maybe two examples were made, or maybe this is the same car but altered over the years?

It cannot be properly called a 1962 APAL, because A.P.A.L. was not formed before 1962, and this car was built in 1957. By the coachbuilder Edmond Pery, who later established APAL indeed, on a VW platform.
