That's the right idea yes, it's one of those 1172 ccc Ford sidevalve specials.
In fact it's not actually a Popular it's based on so I'll lock it for you to tell me which of them is its base.

I've just found reference to this car competing in 1954 at Gt Auclum hillclimb, so the build date must be earlier than 1956.
