The only other one I ever came across was a Mini with a Rover(Buick) engine in the back, driving forwards to the front wheels - it was a one-off raced IIRC by Harry Ratcliffe in the 1970s

I'd not heard of that one. The one I had in mind was the Arrowhead Teardrop Car of 1936, which had a rear-mounted V8 (over a single rear wheel) driving the front pair of wheels. Can't find a pic of it for now...
