M#8 Solved - Norman Holtkamp's Cheetah Transporter
« on: April 22, 2009, 09:51:42 PM »
This one is probably way too easy...

So I want the original name of the vehicle, before it got re-named.
And the name of the 1st owner/builder.

The Cheetah Transporter
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Apparently Holtkamp was so impressed by the Mercedes transporter that he wanted one like it; of course the only way to do that was to build his own..  He started with a Mercedes 300 chassis and fitted Porsche suspension parts, a Chevy El Camino cab and a Corvette V8.. The handling was said to be somewhat wayward (lethal actually..) so he had to rebuilt the whole thing longer and with the engine further back, losing the Mercedes-like bodywork in the process.

Another pic:

The prolongation was never finished, but the two parts are supposed to still exist.
