A geo-quiz with a bit of a twist. Each automobile's maker is the same as the name of a place. For these particular cars, the model designation is also the same as the name of a another place. So, six cars, twelve places. Tell us which two place names go with each car. To give more puzzlers a shot at playing, once you have made a guess, and it is ruled incorrect, you won't  be able to guess that car-and-places combo again.

Enjoy!

Yes, I had just about figured that out, so here goes:

Car 1 : 5 + 7
Car 2 : 8 +11
Car 3 : 3 + 4
Car 4 : 10 + 2
Car 5 :  6 + 12
Car 6 : 9 + 1

No.1 is a Bristol Blenheim
No. 4 is an Austin Hereford
No. 6 is a Lincoln Truman
Will work on the others!

To clarify - the object is not "name the cars" or "name the cities". The object is to match a car to two cites, with which it has its names in common.

Yes, figured that out eventually and think I've done that with my latest post...
So I've deleted the car names as well.

Naming the cars and the cities is A-OK, welcome, even - so long as you group them when answering. Of the groupings you posted, none was correct, though car 5 and car 6 were partially correct.

OK, so as I understand it I am banned from further attempts!
I'm not surprised by result as I have absolutely no idea what most of those cities look like, some of them being particularly obscure..
Over to someone else then!

Thanks for being a good sport, and taking the first stab at these. If you can ID the cars (make and model) the cities can be found with relative ease.

I did recognise the car, but where I live, Somerset is a county, not a city so I was not able to get any further ::)
I cannot recognise any of the other cars or cities, but then I've never been to North America ;D

Not all of the remaining cars - or locations - are North American.

By the way, as always, love the eye-rolling.

Same here - it certainly looked liked an Austin Somerset but Somerset being a county I opted for it being an Austin Hereford, which was largely a Somerset on steroids..  No wonder I couldn't recognise Hereford anywhere..

Think this puzzle is very much angled towards Americans.  How on earth can we Brits recognise an obscure city like Somerset? Or Truman?  Or Cadillac MI?  Or Dodge City?!!

The point of the puzzle was not to give a picture of the Eifel Tower, and have people say "A-ha! That's Paris!" Some Puzzlers (though certainly not all) enjoy the hunting that goes with these kinds of puzzles. Ray's super-cool horse opera puzzles are a great example of the fun these puzzles offer.

Not every puzzle I post is meant to appeal to everyone.

Whenever I post a music-themed puzzle, longhairs bemoan the lack of classical and opera tie-ins. When I post multi-car puzzles, others (often the same people) lambaste me for not including enough cars that they see on the road every day. But when I post an all-euro puzzle, no complaints from the North American or Pacific Rim members. And no "thank you's" form the people who complain about what they perceive as a shortage of non-US cars in other puzzles.

Regardless, the demographics of active members here skews toward non-American, as do the puzzles they post. You don't see me griping, do you?

Fine. I don't want to be seen as a griper!  Actually I enjoyed trying the puzzle.  The cars were easy enough to recognise but must admit apart from Lincoln (which I know quite well) most of the cities/towns were a pure guess.  An educated one, I thought, but maybe I'm wrong!

I wasn't griping, just explaining why I can't cope with this: I can't cope with most of the one-offs, characterless oriental pressed-steel and such-like, but I still seem to score a point or two from time to time, and that keeps me interested.
Must set a puzzle or two again soon ;D

How on earth can we Brits recognise an obscure city like Somerset?

At the risk of betraying what a total hack I am when it comes to these things, I didn't recognize Somerset either. Or even the Austin Somerset. I googled the name "Lakeside Pizza & Pub" and the first pic in the first link was the photo above, of the restaurant in Somerset. Worked backwards to find the Austin Somerset, and then my wife (native Texan) recognized the Austin skyline. She also lived in Spain for a few years, so now she's tasked with figuring out which picture is Seville. :D

I believe car #2 is a Cadillac (city #8) Seville (city #5)

Actually, I'm pretty certain about the make & model. It's the city of Cadillac I'm not 100% certain on....I just found a close match to the prominent features in city #8 using the satellite view in Google maps. But that's my final answer all the same.

...Although City 7 is called Blindheim...and is only called Blenheim when translated into English...
