It is a Toyota Toyopet X a Concept car displayed at the 1961 Tokyo motor show, based around the Toyota Crown.

A request for help please re this Toyopet! 

This styling of this prototype looks very Italian, but might not be.  Does anyone know for sure who designed this Toyopet, and if possible with some proof please?  A strange question I know, but I'm researching this car for something.  Thank you.

I had a feeling it was Michelotti but I'd have to look into that..

Thanks Carnut.  It does have a hint of Michelotti about it, but to me it also has a flavour of Touring as well!  We'll keep on looking, but if anyone else has any ideas or hard evidence on this Toyota as well, please do let me know.  Thanks.

I can see why you think it might be Touring; it's those front wings and their leading edge which are strongly reminiscent of the Touring Sunbeam Venezia..

Thanks again Carnut, very much appreciated.  I'm 99% certain that one of the Italian masters is responsible for this car, as it just looks to good by early 1960s standards for Toyota to have designed it themselves.  All other thoughts very welcome.

There's no mention of any Toyota in my Michelotti book, but that only refers to designs he did in co-operation with Vignale.
As he was freelance there are any number of Michelotti designs which are nothing to do with Vignale!  Do you know of any others he did for Touring?
