To my estimate, we have now narrowed it down to about seven thousand three hundred and twelve possible cars.

We are now down to about nine hundred possibilities.

My first guess would be a Fiat 124 Spyder, mainly because my brother has one

I would say @re beat me to it, but Karn did not respond to his (and my) suggestion of the Fiat X1/9. Is that it?

I agree - pieter deserved a point for narrowing it down so much. I would say that the X1/9 is more of an instantly recognisable classic than the 124 Spyder - but that's just me, and I'm just a bit biased :)
