LT Lindstrom 20hp
Year and place: 1909-1923, Torsby
Not much is known about the first car Anders Rudolf Lindström built, but it is told that it was before 1910. The car had iron wheels, made by a local smith, and rumour tells that the car really was heard when coming. Rumour also tells that the grocer Lindström used his delivery boy pushing the car uphills more often than he used him as a delivery boy.
With new ideas and visions he started with the next car. But it took time. The name LT stood for "Lindström, Torsby" but got nicknamed "Långsam tillverkning" ("slow production").
In 1923 the car was finished, and it was much better appreciated than the "Ironwheelcar". It was so positive, that a serie of 50 cars were planned initially.
The car had a rather ordinary body, but only the driver seat in front and a passenger seat for 2 in the rear. It had only one door, on the left side. (Sweden had lefthand traffic until september 1967.) It was a goodlooking car with pointed front and angled windscreen, and high quality upholstery and paintwork. The 2-cylinder 20hp engine was of their own make.
The car had potential to sell rather well, but when the third car was finished Lindström had economic problems and production was stopped. Lindström was offered job for other car manufacturers, but he said no thanks and hoped for better times.
But, shortly thereafter his workshop was completely destroyed by fire. One engine, a fuel tank and some casting moulds is all that remains.
