In a book of mine, it says this:
"First shown in 1980, the Desande Roadster was an evocation (not a copy) of the Mercedes-Benz SSK with a 5-litre Chevrolet V8 engine."
Another source states that this was originally the work of a Belgian builder named Danny G Vandezande, whose company was based in Holland. The car, however, was built by British company Metalcraft Grand Prix, and it was first presented at the Geneva show in 1980. It was intended mainly for the French and American markets, and was equipped with leather interior and a walnut dashboard. The steering wheel hub was decorated with a golden D. This source says the engine was a Ford V8, but that according to the catalogue one could chose a 5.8 litre Chevrolet unit instead. The asking price for the Desande was 120.000 Swiss francs in 1980.
