Couldn't be as easy as a Toyota MR2, could it?

It couldn't  - it's similar in many ways, though, but this machine isn't Japanese, and wasn't mass-produced in the same way.

Ginetta, yes! G31, no.

This is a G31, and as you can see, it's similar, but not the same car.

Quiller has sent me a PM telling me it's obviously a G32, not a G31. It obviously is, and even though he's now a Pro and can't solve Rookie puzzles, I'll give him the point, since he was so close.
