Actually, it is a Volvo Philip prototype from 1952, but who cares? It's the right car!

Looks like somebody at Volvo was infuenced heavily by the 1951 Kaiser...here's a front view...even more Darrin-like influence here.  The car reminds me of a 1953 Studebaker from the rear.

It was designed to help Volvo in its foray into the American market, but was never produced. So it's no wonder it looks very much like an American car (when in Rome, do as the Romans do...)  :)

The public probably would have dubbed it the "Kaiserbaker".  Probably wouldn't have sold well, but it holds up as an attractive car...very early '50's Detroit.
