Obviously a special of some sort. Exhaust is the wrong side for a Jaguar six-cylinder, so may be it's a V-8 under there.
Roll-over hoop makes me think it could be Australian, so I'll try a Holden-based special.

It's more than a special - several of these were made.

It's not Jag-powered, as you surmised. Maybe it is V8!
