What's the car pictured here, looking a little sorry for itself?

There is some resemblance, yes, but it's nothing to do with Marcos

Was it made by Sarcon, Ltd as reported in an ad or by Dragsport Cars?

Hi Francesco,

According to my information it was made by both Dragsport Cars and Sarcon Ltd in  Yeadon, Yorkshire in  United Kingdom. However, not much exact info is available about this quite obscure manufacturer.

As far as I know it was initially produced in 1969 by Sarcon Ltd., Yeadon, Yorkshire (Alan Staniforth & Richard Blackmore). Apparently only two Scarabs were built.
In the early 1970s the manufacturer was reported as Dragsports Cars (address/production unknown).
Alan Staniforth was also involved in producing the Mini-based Whippingham Wrogue sports racer of 1971.

A company called Dragsport was listed in the October 1972 issue of Custom Car magazine as offering the Scarab. The name was Dragsport Cars, based in Yeadon, Yorkshire, and it also offered a Ford Model T hot rod kit. Hope that helps!

Thank you, that's what I found in the Beaulieu too (and I found a pic of the Hot-Rod ;D ) but there is nothing about Sarcon...except the name on the ad.
