Is this a prototype / mule for the 911?  It does look a bit more modern than that, but it's all I've got.

You earned one point for seing the obvious (which nobody did before you though). Now there is another point to win for whoever finds who made this shocker, and what engine.

This is a 1957 Porsche 356, modified to be front-engined, and not any kind of engine: It's a small-block Chevy 400 engine, and the (heavy) modification is done by a guy who is a frequent poster on jalopnik.com, who calls himself "Junkman". I don't know of any particular name for it.
