Looks as if it should be, in which case probably the Thomas Flyer and the Züst

OK you've got the cars,
and the event
- now: where?
Correction: It's New York to Paris.

Well, it doesn't look like either New York or Paris!
Hard to make out the detail of the cars, which might give a clue as to how far they'd got (the Züst changed appearance quite a lot at various points) but as I don't think they travelled together across Siberia it may be the mid-west of the USA which looked much the same to a European.

As far as I know, the Peking-Paris did not go through The USA...
I would guess somewhere in Pakistan
Edit: I see they went straight into Russia, then Poland. SO, somewhere in Russia?
Edit 2: The Peking-Paris was in 1907

Yes New York-Paris was what I thought even though I read Pekin! My answer referred to that event (neither Thomas Flyer nor Züst were on Pekin-Paris)
The Züst was/is being restored in Canada for the centenary celebrations which must be soon, if not past.
Here are some photos that are supposed to be the same Züst at various times in 1908

The building in the background might afford a hint...

The building doesn't immediately ring a bell.
It looks as if the area in the foreground could be rice paddy, so I will guess it is crossing Japan, as the NY-P didn't go through China IIRC

Yep - it's a Züst overtaking the Flyer in Japan, ca. 1908
The picture was taken by the De Dion Bouton team during the great race from New York to Paris.
