It is an American car, but not a Lincoln.

wel, i've had a look at photos of every american car i can think of from around 1928-30 (which is when i guess it was made) and the only one i can find that has a radiator this shape with the raised bit at the top is a dodge....

Just a tad newer than 1928-1930, and not a Dodge.

Right brand - different model type, however.

That is a town car body (built by an outside coachbuilder, by the way), but to award you the point, you'll need to identify the model designation.

Well, you stuck to it, and earned the point! It's a 1931 Stutz SV16.

This car, in need of some TLC, is currently for sale, and can be has for the price of a new Buick. From the seller:

Quote
A very desirable and good looking Stutz with a one off town car body believed to have been crafted by Brunn. The restoration was begun by a noted Stutz restorer a few years ago who fully and properly rebuilt the engine. It is missing the dash and gauges as well as the transmission. A transmission has been located and can be acquired if needed The car has replated Ryan headlamps and replated chrome rear bumper. A worthy project that when completed will make quite an impressive Stutz.
