While the numbers on the plate might be misleading, the placement of the plate on the rear of this car is a significant clue.

If one could determine the previous location of the plate on this production-based prototype, one might be able to determine why it was moved, and, therefor, identify the car!

It does look like a 1957-1958 Plymouth rear bumper, lacking some decor on the trunk, but with the license plate at the right place so I didn't see what Karn meant...
Well I checked and here it is: this is a 1958 Plymouth proto carrying the CR2 turbine engine, with the four central outlets in the bumper.
