A vehicle of this basic configuration, from this manufacturer, has been featured in car magazine “spy shots” in the last couple of months.

Stumbled across it (as is often the case) - the eBay auction page where the story originates from is gone, but I quote from <<< link removed >>>

"Apparently, this is a unique, surviving prototype made for VW of Mexico. One of two made, with the other vehicle being destroyed, hence this is the only one in existence. Created from tubular steel with a fibreglass shell, this prototype is currently not verified for road use."
