D'you mean it's a Royce, but not a 40/50 (aka inaccurately as Silver Ghost)?

Is it based on an Invicta chassis?

I personally do definitely not think  itīs a 1908 Delaunay-Belleville with coachwork by Mulliner like it seems to be shown here:

http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/magazine/3500.asp?id=11669

, but it is the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost chassis No. 2484 with Tourer coachwork by Cann Ltd. which was delivered to the Rt. Hon. Lord Carbery.

as can be read above the pic...

A well known Delaunay-Belleville (with Mulliner coachwork) of 1908 looks like this one:

http://www.supercars.net/Pics?v=y&s=c&id=2417&p=1908_DelaunayBelleville_F6MullinerRoidesBelgesTourer1.jpg

they had a quite remarkable round cooler mask.

So I think there must be some mistake in here....

I think you're right. I found this photo and I believe this is the car in its present state.

I find it a bit intriguing that you found the picture of a pre-1910 Rolls Royce on the web page conceptcarz.com :)

Edit: I guess it's just as funny to find a 1908 Delaunay-Belleville at supercars.net...

I'm confused: I was told I was getting warmer when I identified it as a London-Edinburgh 40/50 Rolls-Royce
When I suggested you mean it's a Royce, but not a 40/50 (aka inaccurately as Silver Ghost) I was told "not a Rolls not a Royce"
(perhaps the shorthand "Royce" for Rolls-Royce confused you - it's how they referred to the company themselves, as did we who had dealings with them)
Someone said Invicta and you said go south: Derby is north of Cobham

So
it is a Rolls-Royce
it is a 40/50 (often generically called "Silver Ghost", though strictly that was one car)
it is a London-Edinburgh (or later) (cantilever rear springs)
probably about 1913 from the chassis number, but never Dated by the Veteran Car Club of GB

The classicdriver link didn't work for me, by the way
